Appointment of a new Consultant ENT Surgeon 5 August 2005

Noble’s Hospital is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Dirk Hoehmann, a Consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon. Mr Hoehmann has had an interest in ENT and has been working in the specialism for 20years. Mr Hoehmann joins Noble’s Hospital from Aintree University Hospital where he worked as an ENT Consultant, and prior to that he was at the University Hospital of Wurcburg in Southern Germany.

Mr S Upsdell, Lead Consultant in Surgery, said “We are fortunate to have attracted such an experienced Surgeon to the Island and I know that Mr Hoehmann will continue to build upon the good reputation of the ENT Department. I am sure that the quality and range of services that we offer will be further enhanced by his presence”.

Mr Hoehmann and his partner both have businesses outside of health and the Island offers the perfect setting to further develop these. Mr Hoehmann and his partner are currently looking for property to buy on the Island, but have not made any decision as to where yet. His partner will be joining him permanently at the end of the year. Mr Hoehmann is a keen golfer and plays off a handicap of 28 which he says he is hoping to improve - he has already tried four of the Island’s courses. He also has three Giant Schnauzer dogs.

Mr Hoehmann says that everyone he has met at Noble’s from his Secretary right through to the nursing staff, has the same aim and that is to improve the service provided to the patients. Mr Hoehmann has plans to establish a much wider spectrum of service provision - he believes that many of the procedures that patients at present have to travel off-Island for could be carried out here with the right training and development of staff.

Mr. Hoehmann is looking forward to concentrating on his own area of specialism and he recognises that one of his main priorities will be the patient waiting lists. He says “The Hospital has excellent facilities and there is great potential to develop further”.
