Would you like to help your local community? 14 March 2006

The Isle of Man Civil Defence Corps would like to recruit further volunteers to assist at emergencies and in times of crisis.

Commencing in April, training will be given in a variety of subjects including:

    • Hill search and rescue techniques
    • First aid
    • Catering
    • Radio communications
    • Generators and lighting
    • Flood response
    • Operation of rest centres
    • CBRN Incident Response
    • Off-road driving

If you are aged between 18 and 60 years, enjoy working as part of a team, don’t mind getting cold and wet, are reasonably fit and totally honest and reliable, and take a pride in helping others, then we would like to hear from you.

In exchange for a commitment to attend training sessions from 8pm to 10pm each Wednesday, and to respond when called out to assist, we will issue you with a uniform and pay you a modest annual retainer.
