West Coast Trunk Main Phase 1 – Sulby to Ballaugh 16 June 2006

As part of the ongoing Capital Investment Programme designed to bring better quality water to all parts of the Island, the Isle of Man Water Authority are now concentrating on installing new mains down the West Coast of the Island.

The first phase of this work will be between Sulby and Ballaugh, using the Heritage Trail to minimise disruption to the general public. To facilitate this work it is necessary to close the Heritage Trail, in a rolling closure order, for a period of approximately six months.

The work will be carried out in stages with the first closure from Gob-e-Volley (The Gate House) to its junction with the Curraghs Wildlife Park coming into effect from Wednesday, 14th June through to Friday, 18th August, 2006. An alternative route for walkers and cyclists is via the A3 main road footpath. Part of this closure will continue on from the entrance to the Wildlife Park to the junction with the B9 Road. Entrance to the Curraghs Wildlife Park will be maintained as normal.

Ongoing closures will be in phases from the eastern gate entrance to the Ballaugh Park, from the eastern gate to the western gate and lastly from the junction with the A10 to approximately 300m to the west of the junction with the A10, with work hoping to be completed by the beginning of December 2006.

The Isle of Man Water Authority apologises for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure and requests the forbearance and understanding of the public during this period of necessary works.

Should you have any queries during the course of the work please contact Tadhg O’Mahoney of Auldyn Construction Ltd. on 662466 and/or the Isle of Man Water Authority Customer Services Department on 695949.
