Minister reassures dental patients of Mr A Jowett, Port St Mary 23 January 2007

Eddie Teare, MHK, Minister for the Department of Health and Social Security said:

"The Department was disappointed to hear that Mr Jowett, Dentist at Port St Mary Dental Practice had taken the decision to stop providing NHS Dental Services, but we wish him well in the future. However it was unfortunate that Mr Jowett’s patients were informed at the same time as the decision was confirmed to the Department. Current on going discussions with practitioners in the south of the Island are anticipated to provide places for additional patients. Mrs du Toit at Thie Rosien, Dental Practice was given approval by the Department in May 2006, to employ a second dentist and subject to approvals a second dentist will be in place by May 2007, and we are already having discussions with other dentists in the South regarding the expansion of their DHSS practices."

The Department advises that Mr Jowett’s patients are patients of his practice until 1st May 2007. However, patients of Mr Jowett’s practice are requested to contact Family Practitioner Services on 642612 from April 2007, so that Family Practitioner Services can obtain patient details and allocate a new NHS dentist.

The Minister wishes to reassure all patients of Mr Jowett's practise that they will be re -registered with DHSS dentist in the South.
