Peel inner harbour – inspection of flapgate and surrounding structure 20 April 2007

On Tuesday, 24th April the Department will undertake an inspection of the Peel Flapgate in preparation for works to take place in mid-May to replace the bottom seal on the Flapgate and to fit some ducting across the seaward side of the Flapgate cill.

The inspection will involve the fitting of ‘stop logs’ to retain the normal water level in the inner harbour during the low water period in order to allow the Flapgate to be lowered for inspection.

The inspection is intended to take place over the daytime low water period from 6am until approximately 2pm. As the Flapgate is scheduled to rise at approximately 7am, there will be minimal disruption to vessel movements.

The swingbridge will be closed to pedestrians from 5am until 2pm, or until the inspection works are completed.
