Strange Road - Subsidence 3 May 2007

Department of Transport officials attended Strang Road today following a report of subsidence yesterday evening. The road was closed under an Emergency Road Closure Order which allowed DoT Highways and Drainage officers to inspect the area.

Investigations have revealed that a leak on the foul sewer linking Strang Close and part of Noble’s Hospital to the main sewer in Strang Road has caused some subsidence. The pipe is being repaired today with a concrete surround, with road reinstatement works being carried out tomorrow (Friday). It is hoped that the road will be re-opened Friday evening.

Sewer lining works will be carried out in the near future to ensure there are no further problems and it is anticipated that these works will not require a road closure.

The Department apologises for any inconvenience caused.
