Postal deliveries in the countryside to return to normal 8 August 2007

Isle of Man Post Office will be attempting to make postal deliveries as normal as possible to farms, stables and properties with livestock from today (Wednesday 8th August 2007).

Following advice from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, deliveries will be made to premises where bio security measures are in force. However, at these properties postal staff will not be permitted to get out of their vehicles and customers are asked to collect their mail from the vehicle. This is due to the decontaminating routines postal staff would have to adopt when visiting each property which may be at risk from Foot-and-Mouth. In turn, this would significantly hinder the delivery times of mail to all other customers. Where properties don’t have any bio security measures in place the delivery officer will assume deliveries can be made to the premises as normal.

Meanwhile these customers at affected properties can choose to have their mail left in a box at the boundary of their premises, collect mail at their local delivery office or arrange an alternative delivery point.

Any customers with any concerns can contact the Customer Services Team on 664664.
