Personal Tax Returns Deadline 28 September 2007

The Income Tax Division of Treasury is advising that there are only eight days to go to the deadline for submitting personal tax returns issued in April 2007.

A £50 penalty will be charged if individual return forms for the tax year ended 5 April 2007 are not received by 6 October 2007. If the tax return has still not been sent in by 6 April 2008, then a further £50 penalty will apply. Even if the penalties are paid, the tax return must still be submitted.

Last year there were large queues at the income tax office during the final week before the deadline. Taxpayers are reminded that they can send in their return free by post, using the mailing label which was sent out with their return. Alternatively returns can be put in the letterboxes at the main entrance of or on the 2nd floor of Central Government Office. The income tax office will operate extended opening hours on Thursday 4 October and Friday 5 October: from 8.30am – 5pm.

If anyone needs a duplicate tax return, they should contact the Division as soon as possible so that one can be issued to them and returned before the deadline.

If help is required in completing a tax return, please contact the Division in any of the following ways:

• Phone general enquiries on 685400

• Email incometax@itd.treasury.gov.im

• Visit the 2nd Floor, Central Government Office, Bucks Road, Douglas. Normal office opening hours are Monday – Thursday 9.15am – 5pm, Friday 9.15am - 4.30pm
