UK postal strikes suspended 15 October 2007 Isle of Man Post Office is delighted to advise customers that the industrial action planned for this week by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) in Royal Mail has been called off. Following marathon talks, the two sides agreed a deal late on Friday which has to be ratified by the CWU Executive today and then put to a ballot of the Union membership. Some unofficial industrial action still affects Liverpool & parts of London, however most of the UK has returned to normal working. There is still a significant backlog of mail in the UK which Royal Mail is working hard to clear. Royal Mail has advised customers that the Special Delivery guarantee will remain suspended while they deal with the backlog. However despite the suspension of the guarantee, Isle of Man Post Office has been encouraged by the success of the Special Delivery service since the industrial action ceased last week. Isle of Man Post Office expects services to and from the UK to improve considerably over the next few days and advises its customers to post as normal. Isle of Man Post Office would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding during this period of disruption in the UK. Increased volumes of mail from the UK are expected over the next few days and customers are asked to bear with us if delivery times are little later than normal.
