Retirement of Brian Pressley – Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital Manager 25 January 2008

The Department of Health and Social Security has announced the retirement of Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital Manager Brian Pressley. Mr Pressley retires on 8th February 2008 after 38 years service within the Isle of Man Health Service.

Hon W E Teare MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“I express my sincere gratitude to Brian for his long and loyal service with the DHSS and wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement.”

Chief Executive Officer David Killip added,

“It has been a pleasure working with Brian, who met all the challenges in his career with full enthusiasm and determination. I am sure that Brian will enjoy the new opportunities that arrive with the freedom of retirement and I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Brian Pressley said,

“In all the areas of work I have been involved with, I have been aware of the support and affection of my colleagues. I would like to thank all the people who have helped me to fulfil my roles effectively.”

Mr. Pressley began his career with the Department of Health and Social Services as a Nursing Assistant at Ballamona Hospital in 1970 and, after pursuing nurse training and clinical experience, qualified as Clinical Nurse Teacher in 1979. After teaching for over six years, Mr. Pressley then moved into Nurse Management at Noble’s Hospital.

After a period as Deputy Matron at St Bridget’s Hospice, from 1988 to 1991, Mr. Pressley transferred to Ramsey District Cottage Hospital as Manager of the newly commissioned Day Hospital. Promotion to Deputy Hospital Manager at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital followed, before Mr. Pressley’s final appointment as Hospital Manager in October 2000.
