Launch of Judgments Online 30 September 2008

On 1st October 2008 www.judgments.im will be launched. Such free on-line database will provide easy access to judgments of the civil, criminal, and appellate courts.

The facility is designed to be user friendly offering immediate access to regular and occasional users whether advocates, the media, or the public at large.

Judgments Online will be launched with in excess of 470 judgments from 2000 to date. Judgments delivered after 1st October will normally be available on-line within 10 days. There is also a rolling programme to publish judgments prior to 1st January 2000.

Deemster Kerruish

“The launch of Judgments Online marks the completion of the first phase of several ongoing IT projects. The next IT initiative to be launched will be the Courts of Justice Website, which launch will coincide with the coming into force, and include the new Civil Rules. The Judiciary’s, and Courts Administration’s promotion, and progression of such projects underlines to those who use the courts, and those who undertake business in, from or with the Island, that they are dealing with a well developed and mature jurisdiction”.

To access the website please log on to www.judgments.im.
