Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority Engineering Bursary 2013/2014 18 February 2013

The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority has again approved a Bursary for students who are studying Engineering at University. The bursary is for local students embarking on an undergraduate degree course in Engineering and is designed to encourage students to study Engineering to the highest of levels.

The Award provides funding for two successful applicants towards the cost of study for the second, third and fourth years on their degree course.

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

Consideration will also be given to other engineering courses accredited by the Engineering Council.

The Authority is responsible for water treatment and distribution, sewage treatment and sewerage and flood risk management on the Island and, in fulfilling these important functions, depends upon the skill and innovation of its Engineers. The Authority is therefore keen to develop Engineering skills and expertise on the Island and would like to offer a financial bursary of £2,000 per academic year to two students in their 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of an Engineering degree course.

It is important to us that you are passionate about becoming an Engineer and can demonstrate the kind of enthusiasm which will add value to our engineering projects. You will be required to apply in writing telling us about yourself, why you have chosen to study Engineering and what your aspirations are for the future.

We will also want to know your GCSE and ‘A’ level results and, if you are about to start your 2nd year on your Engineering Degree course, how the first year went including what has particularly interested you and what were the low points on the course.

If you would like to be considered for an Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority Engineering Bursary you should write a letter which identifies:

  • Why you would like to be considered for the bursary
  • What your aspirations and goals for the future are
  • What grades you achieved at GCSE, AS and A2
  • What results attained at your first year at University (exam results, life learning, interests)
  • A recommendation from your tutor

and send it to:
