Unemployment Steady 8 June 2004

At the end of May unemployment stood virtually unchanged at 364, an unemployment rate of 0.9% of the economically active population.

During the month 131 claimants signed on the register and 130 signed off. Of the total unemployed, 270 are males and 94 are females. These figures include 28 persons who require work permits and 29 who were signing on for National Insurance credits only.

A total of 416 jobs were notified to the Job Centre during the month 65 more than last month. At the end of the month 618 jobs were held on file, the highest figure so far this year.
