Bus fares rise 7 October 2005

Cash fares on all bus services operated by Isle of Man Transport throughout the Isle of Man will increase from Sunday October 16.

David Howard, Director of Public Transport, said: ‘We are faced with ever increasing operating costs especially diesel fuel oil – which again increased in price with the delivery made to us this week. World oil prices also increase other costs to us for products that are influenced by oil. Therefore, unfortunately, we need to increase bus fares.’

From October 16, bus fares will increase by 20 pence on each adult single fare except the initial zone 60p fare which will remain unchanged. Regular bus travellers can continue to enjoy the excellent value represented by purchasing 12-journey tickets. No increases will be applied to Explorer tickets for one, three, five or seven days travel.

Bus fares last increased 18 months ago in April 2004.
