Early years Conference planned 24 November 2006

THE public is being invited to help shape a new multi-agency strategy for children in their earliest years.

Places are available at an Early Years Conference being held at the Hilton Hotel, Douglas, on Monday, February 5.

The conference will discuss provision for children aged 0 to seven. It is a joint initiative between the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Social Security and the Isle of Man Children’s Centre.

It is expected that about 300 people will attend two sessions – from 1.30pm-4pm and 5.30pm-8pm.

Places are limited. If you are interested in attending, contact the Isle of Man Children’s Centre on 676076 or email johnknight@iomcc.org.im, stating which session you would like to attend and which organisation (if any) you represent.

Senior Education Adviser Stuart Dobson said the idea was to consult the public from the outset in drawing up a strategy.

He said:

‘This is an opportunity to contribute thoughts and ideas to the development of a strategy to support young children on the Isle of Man.’
