Martin Taylor Jazz Concert 5 October 2007

World-famous jazz guitarist Martin Taylor and his band will be appearing at the Gaiety Theatre on Tuesday 30 October as part of the Department of Tourism and Leisure’s Isle of Woman festival with all proceeds being donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Martin Taylor, described as ‘The Acoustic Guitarist of his generation’ by America’s Acoustic Guitar magazine, has recently released his latest album and DVD ‘Freternity’ which has received rave reviews. The album has gone straight in at number 10 in the official UK jazz charts and features Mercury Prize nominee Guy Barker, pianist David Newton, drummer Steve Brown and special guest vocalist Alison Burns.

Department of Tourism and Leisure is promoting the concert and Geoff Le Page, Director of Tourism said:

‘We are pleased to announce the forthcoming performance of jazz guitarist Martin Taylor. This is a real opportunity to see a world class performer in action and anyone wishing to see the highly respected jazz guitarist in concert is advised to book early to avoid being disappointed.’

Over his 35 year career Martin has won the British Jazz Awards a record nine times and has recently received the BBC Radio 2’s ‘Heart of Jazz’ award, presented by ex-Rolling Stone’s bass player Bill Wyman, as well as a Lifetime Achievement award.

Tickets are now on sale at the Isle of Man Welcome Centre, telephone 694555. The concert will start at 7.30 pm and tickets are priced at £25.00.
