Take up the Challenge for National Badminton Week! 15 October 2007

The Isle of Man Badminton Association (in conjunction with Badminton England) are once again preparing for National Badminton Week. Due to its success, the event has been extended this year from October 16 -25 2007.

Some of you may remember the one minute rally challenge during the week last October where two players must hit the shuttle, over the net, to each other as many times as possible in one minute! This only costs £1 per pair, that’s just 50p each!

This year there is a slight difference, the pair with the highest score by the end of the week will have the option to nominate a local charity of their choice where all the money raised will be sent. Due to this there will be no separate under 18 category this year, although under 18s are of course welcome to enter. If the winning team wish, they can nominate one charity each and any money raised will be split evenly between them.

The challenge can take place at any badminton court as long as there is a third person present to count the score achieved. Any player or pair can enter as many times as they like provided the £1 is paid for each attempt.

Information and entry forms can be downloaded from the Isle of Man Badminton Association’s website at www.iombadminton.com

Any other information relating to National Badminton Week, or badminton in general, can be obtained from the badminton development office on (01624) 651572 or email: dominic.hobdell@msr.dtl.gov.im.
