New Director to be Appointed for the International Business School 18 March 2008

Due to the retirement of the founding Director of the International Business School, Professor Roger Carey, in August 2008, the Department of Education is seeking to appoint an energetic, entrepreneurial and innovative leader to build on the strengths of the existing team at the International Business School.

Since its inception in 1999 the International Business School, based at the Nunnery, has developed to deliver a focussed range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, an increasing range of professional programmes and has a strong consultancy and developing research profile. As a responsive and people facing institution it helps underpin the strong business and finance sectors of the Isle of Man’s economy.

Minister for Education, the Hon Anne Craine, MHK, commented that

“We are at a pivotal time of development for the International Business School and this post will require someone who will take a dynamic approach to moving the ambitions of the Department of Education forward as we progress towards the longer term aim of developing a University College and later a University of Mann.
The International Business School has established itself well within the business community and we seek someone who will be able to build on that relationship and who will recognise the part that we have to play in enhancing the skills of the Island’s workforce to enable our economy to flourish. The successful applicant will be charismatic and have strong leadership, management and marketing skills. To fulfil this ambitious specification we will consider applicants from either successful academic or business backgrounds and I look forward to some exciting applications.”

Further details of the post are available from the Department of Education’s Human Resources Unit on telephone number 685795.
