Top Award for NSC 12 May 2008

The Island’s National Sports Centre has been officially recognised as one of the best Sport and Recreation facilities in the British Isles.

Every two years the NSC is independently assessed under the QUEST® scheme and out of over 800 centres the NSC rated as the second best in the British Isles, with a magnificent score of 87%.

The Minister for Tourism and Leisure, the Hon. Adrian Earnshaw, MHK whose Department operates the NSC explained

“The rating of the NSC by QUEST® is just reward for Carl Glover and his team who work tirelessly to ensure that as well as being a top class facility, the NSC also provides top class services. My predecessor set out the aspiration that the NSC should set standards to which others can only aspire and this award shows that we are really doing that”

Centre Manager, Carl Glover explained:

“The QUEST® assessment covers many areas of Leisure Centre Management. Some of the key areas include, “Mystery Visitor” inspections, Customer Care, Staff Training, Financial Management and Health and Safety. The NSC was categorised in the “Excellent” category and this status is only for facilities that achieve 85% or more.

The Department’s Director of Service Delivery, Mike Ball concluded

“The NSC sits at the heart of delivering sports services which are genuinely the envy of communities across the British Isles. Whilst awards are really nice and we are proud of the plaque on the wall, the real satisfaction is that our facilities and services genuinely do make a positive difference to people’s lives. Well done to all of the NSC team.”
