Manx Grand Prix Visitor Notches Up 53 Years to the Isle of Man 24 September 2009

Mr Peter Davis from Blackburn received a warm welcome from Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure during his visit to the Isle of Man for the Manx Grand Prix Races. At a special presentation which was held at the Waverley Guest House, Douglas, Mr Quayle presented Peter with a tankard which was engraved with a map of the TT course to mark the special occasion of his annual visits made to the Isle of Man during the last 53 years.

Peter has been staying at the Waverley Guest House for the last 27 years, and travels to the Island every year to watch the TT Races, Manx Grand Prix races and occasionally the Southern 100. Peter met a group of bikers at the Waverley Guest House, whom he meets up with every year and were in attendance when he received his award from Mr Quayle.

Peter Davis said

‘‘I prefer coming to the Island to watch the Manx Grand Prix as it is a different kind of race and the riders are very enthusiastic. I feel that the Post Classic Race which was introduced this year will grow and will reinvent the Manx Grand Prix. I flew to the Island with Manx 2 and I had a very enjoyable experience with the airline due to the level of service which I received’.

Hon Martyn Quayle MHK said

‘‘It is wonderful that Peter has been visiting the Island for 53 years and he is loyal to the racing which takes place on the Isle of Man. Peter will always be assured of a Manx Welcome and I would like to thank Mrs Ellen Foden at the Waverley Guest House for her hospitality and for letting me know about Peter’s impressive level of attendance at the Island’s racing events”.
