Support For Santa Trains Leads To Extra Services 7 December 2009

Due to the great support shown for the upcoming Santa Trains the Department of Tourism and Leisure is pleased to announce that they are adding three extra services to their timetable this December.

Originally two services on the 5th and 6th December were scheduled but now the Department has decided to run three additional services on Saturday 12th December.

The trains will depart from Douglas Station at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. These journeys provide fun for the whole family with Santa making an appearance on-board. Refreshments and presents for children are provided.

In addition a special ‘Blow Away the Cobwebs’ train will run on Wednesday 30th December departing from Douglas and arriving in Castletown at 11.20am and returning at 2.30pm. This is a great way to get out and about over the Christmas weekend.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Hon Martyn Quayle MHK has welcomed the news. He said :

‘It’s fantastic to see the support from Island residents for these unique train services. I’m pleased to see the Island’s transport network being used fittingly over the festive period.’ Tickets for both services are available from the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal or by calling 01624 662525.
