Works to take place on Sycamore Corner, Ballasalla 1 September 2010

Works will commence on 6th September to widen the southeast corner of the junction of Douglas Road and Balthane Road to improve the layout of the junction for traffic entering and leaving the estate.

The works, which are scheduled to last 11 weeks, will involve the excavation of the road to a depth of 450mm, a new stone sub layer, surface layers, kerbing and road lining being installed and the resurfacing of the southbound carriageway of Douglas Road. This should improve the safety of the junction for road users.

To assist with the works, traffic lights will be in operation between 0830 – 1630, Monday – Friday. These lights will be manually operated during the morning peak hours to help minimise congestion. When required, signals may remain in situ overnight. Some traffic congestion is likely, so people are asked to find an alternative route where possible.

The Department would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thanks members of the public for their cooperation.
