Manx Auto Sport Stages Rally 28 September 2011 The Department of Infrastructure is very pleased to announce that it has been working with the Department of Economic Development and Manx Auto Sport Ltd to organise a replacement event following the cancellation of Rally Isle of Man. Mark Ellison, Chairman of Manx Auto Sport Ltd said: “Since the announcement of the cancellation of Rally Isle of Man (RIOM) Manx Auto Sport has received numerous requests from competitors and officials from both on and off the island to see if it would be possible to stage an alternative event on the same dates that RIOM was scheduled to take place. We are pleased to announce that we have secured the full support of the MSA, Department of Infrastructure and Department of Economic Development to proceed with the Manx Auto Sport Stages Rally. We have also received the full support of our rallying partners the Manx Motor Sport Marshals Association.” Further details will be available in due course, but the organisers would now ask for the full support of competitors and rally enthusiasts alike to progress this event to a positive conclusion. Minister Gawne said: “I am delighted that efforts are being made to salvage an event, this is good for the reputation of the Island and I hope will help support economic activity.” More stories >>>
