GP services to commence at Jurby Health and Community Centre 16 January 2012

Jurby Health and Community CentreThe new state of the art, purpose built, £1.6m Health and Community Centre in Jurby will welcome its first patients on Monday, 23rd January 2012. The Practice will initially be manned five mornings a week, with a GP and Practice Nurse available on-site.

Services in Jurby are being provided by Ramsey Group Practice, with all patients currently registered or in the catchment area for Ramsey Group Practice able to request their appointment at either of the Jurby or Ramsey sites, depending on their preference. The Practice also continues to run a service from Cannan Court in Kirk Michael.

Minister for Health, David Anderson MHK, said:

“The opening of the Health and Community Centre in Jurby is a fantastic start to the New Year. With the building works fully completed and the premises handed over to the Department, we’re now able to get on with realising our ambition of providing greater capacity and easier patient accessibility for general practice in the north of the Island. I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition, and hope that everyone in the local area makes use of the new facilities which will be a valuable asset to the whole community.”

Health and Community Centre signAs well as providing facilities for general practice, the Health and Community Centre will also be a northern base of operations for the Department of Health’s Community Nursing staff. There are also two multi-purpose community rooms and a soft play area, with The Children’s Centre and Age Concern Isle of Man providing services from the new Centre.

Dr Graham Wilson, Senior Partner at Ramsey Group Practice said:

“We’re looking forward to commencing services from the new Health Centre in Jurby. We of course remain committed to our operations in Ramsey and Kirk Michael, but this is an important step forward in ensuring adequate capacity and facilities for general practice in the north of the Island.”
