Autumn Tourist Brochure Released 28 August 2003

Autumn starts this weekend in the Isle of Man, at least in terms of marketing the Island.

Following the success of the first Autumn Guide launched last year, the Department of Tourism and Leisure has produced a new Autumn/Winter Guide which will be mailed out from this weekend.

The Autumn/Winter marketing campaign goes into full swing with Classic FM advertising planned and advertorials booked into UK and Irish national press, plus internet promotion.

Geoff Le Page, Director of Tourism, said: 'We are very pleased to see a high number of Isle of Man accommodation providers taking advantage of this brochure to promote themselves out of season, because one of the key strategies for the industry is to develop business outside the summer months. Widening the availability of accommodation enables visitors to enjoy a range of activities that the Island has to offer through autumn and winter, including golf, walking, and eating and drinking, and that ties in with our marketing tag of 'get away from it all relaxation'.'

Tourism Minister David Cretney added: 'We have published 30,000 copies of the Autumn brochure and they will be mailed out in response to any requests generated in the next wave of publicity. The Island has much to offer visitors through autumn and winter and this campaign will highlight that.'

The advertising campaign runs from September until mid-October.

The 32-page Autumn/Winter Guide features new photography with an autumnal feel, including a cover shot of the Tower of Refuge in Douglas Bay at sunrise, plus images showing snow-topped hills, autumnal glens and sunset over Castletown golf course.
