Weekend Opening for Summerland 6 January 2004

The Department of Tourism and Leisure has announced that the Piazza Level at Summerland will be remaining open at weekends during the early part of the New Year.

Whilst it had been intended that the building would close permanently on 31st December, it has been possible to reschedule work on clearing the building to facilitate limited opening. As the Minister for Tourism and Leisure, the Hon. David Cretney, MHK, explained:

"We are aware of customer demand especially at weekends and will do our best to meet that demand until the Villa Marina re-opens at Easter."

During weekends from 9-11 January and incorporating the school half-term 12-17 February inclusive, the Piazza Cinema will operate as normal as will the Manxland children's play area. Manxland will also be available for children's parties during those weekends. The Piazza Level will, of course, be available for functions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
