Work on Queen's Pier, Ramsey 20 February 2004

From the 23rd February 2004, the Department of Transport will undertake work on the pier to secure the railings and other substantial items, such as lamp posts. The work will extend from the landward end to beyond the low water mark.

The work is being undertaken in order that the Department can comply with the Improvement Notice issued by the Department of Local Government and the Environment's Health and Safety Inspectorate (HSI). The securing of the railings is the minimum work required to achieve compliance and will not involve the removal of any material. The work is expected to take about a week but this is dependent on weather conditions.

Reach Engineering and Diving Services Limited (REDS) have been retained by the Department to carry out the work. REDS is a UK based supplier of a range of specialist engineering services, including Access Engineering. The company has carried out other work, on the Island, including the making safe of the rock face at Bulgham.
