Peter Jarmann Trophy 23 May 2004

The family of Peter Jarmann have generously presented the Southern '100' Club with a trophy in his memory.

The magnificent trophy will be awarded to the first rider to finish on a 500cc single cylinder machine in the BDO (IoM) Ltd. Senior Classic Race, in the De Montfort Group sponsored event.

The inscription of the trophy reads: "A great supporter of the Billown Circuit and a true friend of the Southern '100' Motorcycle Club."

Peter, from Switzerland first competed on the Billown Circuit at the first Pre-TT Classic Meeting, back in 1988, returning home with a pair of unwanted D.N.F's. Undaunted by his disappointment, the genial Swiss rider returned the following year finishing the races he entered and continued to arrive in late May for what was to become an annual appearance almost without a break up to and including this year.

Not just content with riding in the De-Montfort Pre-TT Classic, Peter made several return trips over the years to compete in what he and many riders like him called - the friendly meeting - the Southern 100, gaining his first podium position in 2002 in the Steam Packet 400cc Race taking a well deserved second place.

His untimely death in the Lap of Honour at last years TT, on the Bultaco he had ridden in the De Montfort Pre-TT Classic was a shock to everyone involved in road racing, non more so than all of us at the Southern 100 meetings.

Peter's ever smiling face no matter if anything wasn't going his way will be sadly missed this year and for many years to come.
