TT Stars head to Castletown 11 June 2005

Racing on the Mountain Course may be over, until the Manx Grand Prix, but pure road racing moves to the south of the Isle of Man today, with the Steam Packet 175th Anniversary Road Races being held on the Billown Circuit on the outskirts of Castletown.

Many of the heroes of the TT will be making their way to the 4.25-mile course, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next month to reacquaint themselves with close, massed start, hard fought and exciting racing between the hedges. They include Ryan Farquhar, Guy Martin, Ian Lougher, Nigel Beattie, Chris Palmer, Paul Hunt to name but a few.

Yarno Holland, Terry Crane, Chris Barrett, Neil Chadwick and Garry Dickinson are amongst those who have travelled to the Island especially to take part in the 250cc race.

The three-race programme, the sixth round of the Duke Road Race Rankings Series, which caters for 125; 250; 400; 600 and 1000cc machines commences at 4.30pm and continues until no later than 8.30pm.

Between the three races a series of Classic Parades will take place, your chance to see the sights and sounds of exotic machines from a bygone era.

Practicing takes place from 1.00pm to 3.30pm and with the weather set fair all is in place for a fitting finale to the 2005 TT Festival.
