Manx Grand Prix 2003 Road Closures


The main roads known as the TT Mountain Course (hereinafter called "the Course") shall be closed to the public for the 2003 Manx Grand Prix Motorcycle Practices, Races and Parades as follows :-

Practices

  • Saturday 16th August
    No morning practice
    Evening from 6.00pm to 8.30pm

  • Monday 18th August
    Morning from 5.40am to 7.30am
    Evening from 6.00pm to 8.30pm

  • Tuesday 19th August
    No morning practice
    Evening from 6.00pm to 8.30pm

  • Wednesday 20th August
    Morning from 5.40am to 7.30am
    Evening from 6.00pm to 8.30pm

  • Thursday 21st August
    No morning practice
    Afternoon from 1.45pm to 5.00pm

  • Friday 22nd August
    Morning from 5.40am to 7.30am* (Emergency only)
    Evening from 6.00pm to 8.30pm

  • Saturday 23rd August
    Morning from 5.40am to 7.30am* (Emergency only)
    Evening from 6.00pm to 8.30pm

  • Wednesday 27th August
    Afternoon after racing completed to 5.00pm, but if races have been delayed to 8.30pm
* If the Manx Grand Prix organisers decide it not necessary to hold the Friday 22nd August Morning Practice and Saturday 23rd August Morning Practice the Public will be notified on Manx Radio on the evenings of the 21st and 22nd August.

Races

  • Monday 25th August
    Day from 9.30am to 5.00pm **

  • Wednesday 27th August
    Day from 9.30am to 5.00pm**

  • Friday 29th August
    Day from 9.30am to 5.00pm**
** The Races set for these dates may be postponed and held on days following (see below).

In the event of adverse weather conditions etc the start of any race on Monday 25th August, Wednesday 27th August and Friday 29th August may be postponed from time to time until not later than 7.00pm (Roads open not later than 8.30pm).

Any race which shall not have started or which has been declared Null and Void by the promoters on a specified Race Day may be postponed to any of the days from 26th August to 30th August, on similar terms -

EXCEPT THAT in the event of a Race being postponed to -

Tuesday 26th August or Thursday 28th August the Course shall be closed on those days not earlier than 11.30am

Notification of postponed closures will be given in the news bulletins on Manx Radio.

The Course includes the A1 Road between Douglas and Ballacraine, A3 Road between Ballacraine and Ramsey, A18 Snaefell Mountain Road, A18 Bemahague Road, Glencrutchery Road, Bray Hill and Quarterbridge Road, Douglas.

During the Practice and Race Periods no person may pass any barriers on to the Course unless specially authorised, but the Order provides for limited crossing of the Course at designated locations by traffic, at the discretion of the Police on duty, during the intervals between Races for different classes of motor cycles on Race days.

The Course will be re-opened for traffic by an official motor vehicle displaying a notice "Roads Open" proceeding along the Course upon the completion of the Practices and Races and by the passing of such vehicle the part of the Course so passed is open for traffic.

A copy of the Order may be inspected at any Police Station. In the event of any query a helpline is available on 644644 or 644629. Further information will be broadcast on Manx Radio.

Offences against the Act or the Order render the offender liable to a penalty not exceeding £2,500.
