TT Homestay opens for 2006 and 2007 11 November 2005

The Department of Tourism & Leisure is opening the TT Homestay Scheme for both the 2006 TT and the 2007 centenary TT.

The 2006 TT Homestay scheme is opening as usual due to most, if not all the “year round” registered accommodation being booked and many potential visitors not being able to find suitable accommodation.

The 2007 TT Homestay scheme is being opened at this time due to many of the accommodation providers on the island being either fully booked or giving first refusal for 2007 TT to their 2006 TT guests. The Department applauds this practice as being good customer care but it has produced a real shortage of available accommodation for the thousands of potential visitors to the Island for this landmark event.

The scheme, which allows visitors to be accommodated in Manx homes, has been successfully operated for more than 15 years.

Householders considering offering Homestay accommodation for the 2006 TT and 2007 centenary TT should apply to register their property with the Department of Tourism and Leisure as soon as possible.

    Tourism Minister David Cretney said:

‘I’d like to thank everybody who has opened their home during TT in the past and ask them to contact us again to ensure our TT visitors are satisfactorily accommodated. Homestay is a great way for Manx residents to make new friends and earn a little extra money and also benefits the race fans, who otherwise would not be able to visit.’

Anyone considering offering Homestay accommodation can contact the Department on 686802.
