MCN Editor Hails Resurgent TT as Isle of Man leads the way at the Carol Nash NEC Bike Show 7 December 2009

Motor Cycle News Editor Marc Potter today hailed the ‘Best of British’ in his editorial column in this week’s issue, citing the Isle of Man TT as leading the way. In his column reviewing the success of the British motorcycling industry he referenced the fact that the Isle of Man TT stand was ‘mobbed’ and praised TT organisers for their ‘innovative new ways’ of ‘selling trips over the Irish Sea’

. He also referenced the TT team as people that were ‘not prepared to sit back and do things the same way that they’ve always done’. The same issue also praised Guy Martin as ‘one of the sport’s greatest characters ever’ on the back of his TT campaigns.

Regency Travel Sales and Marketing Director Richard Howarth, who visited the show this week, said: “We have already received a lot of calls from all over the world with people looking to come over for the TT in 2010 and the idea of a TT package trip, and a website where you can book everything, is going down very well.”

This Saturday 5th December has been officially named ‘TT Day’ at the bike show as fans get the chance to meet their heroes. TT riders past and present including John McGuinness, Guy Martin, Dave Molyneux and Phil McCallen will be taking to the stage and answering questions from MC’s Steve Parrish and Jamie Whitham. They will also participate in a TT dedicated ‘Question of TT Races’ session where they’ll have the chance to show off their knowledge and will be meeting fans and signing autographs on the Isle of Man TT stand.

Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Isle of Man Government, commented:

“I was fortunate to get down to the show earlier in the week and it was great to see so many people enquiring about coming to the Isle of Man. The Isle of Man has a really high profile at the show and we are hoping that this will convert into visitors coming to the Island throughout the year for many of the events and activities that are available, not just during the TT period.”
