Laptop for TT Marshals 21 January 2004

The Isle of Man TT Marshals Association were delighted to accept the gift of a Hewlett Packard Laptop Computer from XKO (IOM) last week.

XKO has enjoyed a long affiliation with the TT and Manx Grand Prix, providing networked computer systems and support to Race Officials during the annual meetings. Tracey Greenhow, Account Director at XKO said,

"We are thrilled that XKO are able to support the IoMTTMA in this way. The Marshals are an essential part of the TT and MGP and we hope they can use the Laptop to benefit training and recruitment of Marshals both new and old."

Roger Hurst, Chairman of the IoMTTMA explained,

"The Association will use the Laptop for presentations and training, both on and off Island. It is our intention that every Marshal will attend a Laptop presentation before they go out on the Course and thanks to the portable nature of the Laptop, we can use it in almost any venue or location."

He further revealed that Brian Smith, Secretary of the TTMA, will be taking the Laptop to the RDS Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show in Dublin at the end of February and has already started work on a presentation that will give potential Marshals an idea of what they can expect during the TT and MGP meetings.

Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Mr David Cretney MHK, added that the presence of the IoMTTMA would be an invaluable addition to the Isle of Man Tourism stand at the show and hoped the Laptop Presentation would encourage interest from potential Marshals as well as be an excellent training aid.
