TT Entries Pouring In 16 March 2004

Entries are being received in large numbers and close on Friday, March 26. Acceptances will be notified no later than Saturday May 1. The race programme is similar to that of 2003, though the Formula One and Senior races will be over four laps rather than six as previously.

Unless required as a stand-by, morning practising has been discontinued and extra practice has been arranged after racing on Saturday June 5 and Monday June 7 along with the established post-race Wednesday practice (June 9).

Another important change is that competing in the Senior TT will no longer debar riders from future competition in the Manx Grand Prix providing only production machines are ridden. Previously a number of riders who qualified for the Senior by being among the fastest 80 in TT practice have declined to ride because it would have compromised their plans to contest the Manx.

Production rules for this year's TT will stay largely unchanged, but there will be high profile enforcement and for 2005 consideration of the adoption of FIM/BSB Superstock rules.

For this year, potential conflict between competitors/teams and the race organisation will be obviated by the appointment of a senior official to act as a "one-stop shop" for liaison between the parties. The idea is to prevent situations developing into contention unnecessarily.
