New Head teacher for Fairfield Junior School 10 November 2005

New Head teacher for Fairfield Junior School

Ian Longshaw has been appointed Head teacher at Fairfield Junior School with immediate effect.Ian Longshaw - Head teacher of Fairfield Junior School

Ian originally comes from Nuneaton, Warwickshire and now lives in the south of the Island with his wife, who teaches at Arbory Primary School, and their two children.

Ian trained at Normal College, Bangor (1987-1991) and began his teaching career at Rushen Primary School in September 1991. He first joined Fairfield Junior School as Deputy Head teacher on 1st January 1998.

Says Ian - " I believe that transformation is the key if schools are to be able to respond positively to the challenges of educating pupils in the 21st century. It is an exciting time for Fairfield School and as Head Teacher I want to build a community and shape a culture. My main aim for the whole school community will be one where everyone is engaged in learning. I believe that all children at Fairfield can learn and succeed and I will strive for all the children and staff to be confident, motivated and very happy.”
In his spare time Ian studies modern European history and is a keen QPR supporter.

The headship became vacant as a result of the sudden resignation of the previous Head teacher and credit must be given to Ian for having maintained the continuity of the children's education throughout these disruptions. Naturally, he will receive full support from the Department and all other schools on the Island, allowing him to move forward and concentrate all his efforts on the pupils and the school.
