Another £50,000 for the victims of the earthquake in Pakistan 17 October 2005

Following a request from the Overseas Aid Committee, the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers have approved the donation of a further £50,000, from the Chief Minister's emergency aid fund, to the victims of the major earthquake in Pakistan.

This donation is in addition to the recent donation of £50,000 contributed by the Overseas Aid Committee to Oxfam.

The Overseas Aid Committee will be meeting to discuss the best use of this extra funding in the near future.

The Chief Minister’s emergency aid fund was created by a motion at the Tynwald sitting in January 2005. It was setup following the Asian Tsunami in December 2004 to allow a rapid response to humanitarian disasters and crises.
