Fairfield Junior School present cheque 30 September 2005

ISLAND SCHOOLS UNITE - In memory of Danny Feeney

Special Needs learning support assistant Beverley Loughran of Fairfield Junior School in Douglas, was deeply saddened when Danny Feeney passed away. He had worked as a supply teacher in a number of the schools around the Island before he died in July this year. Bev recalls how he only needed to walk into a staffroom and he would have everyone laughing and smiling, and in the classroom he was one of the best, a professional, and the children loved him!

In an effort to pay tribute to him the children of Year 6 at Fairfield Junior were asked to help make some ribbons in the school colours (blue and yellow), which were then sold for £1 each. Fairfield Junior School also got in touch with the other schools he had worked for and told them about the fund raising idea and the response from them was fantastic!

During September a collection was made of all the monies raised and it was a massive total of £1034.45. This money will be passed onto Danny’s memorial fund, which, in turn, will be distributed to organisations who look after the interests of cancer patients and their families’.

Schools which took part in the fund raising included Fairfield Junior, Foxdale, Anagh Coar, Cronk y Berry, St Mary’s, Willaston, and Scoill Phurt le Moirrey.

The schools would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Fairfield School present cheque
