Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital Out Patient Survey 25 August 2005

    The Department of Health and Social Security announces that the Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital Quality Group is to launch a comprehensive Out Patient Survey on Monday 5th September.

    The surveys will be given to everyone who attends the Hospital for an Out Patient appointment throughout a four-week period. The aim of this is to gain a thorough understanding of how people view the service we currently provide, and identify any areas for improvement.

    If you receive a survey, please try to complete and return it in the free post envelope provided. It is completely anonymous, so please be as honest as you can.

    Steve Rodan, MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said, “Throughout the Department we are committed to providing the highest quality service to the people of the Isle of Man. However, we can only find out how well we are doing by asking the public directly. I am delighted that I can support Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital’s commitment to quality in the form of this survey, I am looking forward to seeing the results.”

    The survey originated at the time that Nobles Hospital was creating a similar survey, for In-Patients. It aims to cover all aspects of an out patient appointment, from receiving your appointment letter, to arriving at the hospital, through to the overall care and attention that you receive.

    A small trial survey (50 people were asked to take part) was completed earlier this year, with promising results, and enabled us to make some minor changes in order that the questions were clear and meaningful. If you did kindly complete this trial survey, and do receive another during September, we would be very grateful if you could complete and return this one as well.

    Economic Affairs will be analysing the results of the survey, and it is hoped that the results will be available by early in the New Year. Ramsey & District Cottage Hospital will then consider the results and make any appropriate changes to the services we provide to ensure that our standards are of the highest quality, and meet the standards of expectation from the public.

    It is hoped that a summary of the results will be published in the local press by summer 2006.
