Appointment of a Review Team to conduct a review into the Scope 8 August 2005

Appointment of a Review Team to conduct a review into the Scope and Structure of the Isle of Man Government

Government is looking to appoint individuals to a Review Team to conduct a detailed review into the scope and structure of the Isle of Man Government, reporting to a Steering Group, chaired by the Chief Minister and comprising other politicians and senior officials.

The primary aim of the Review will be to identify whether the current structure needs to be changed to meet current and future needs, and how these changes can be implemented without adversely affecting service provision. The objective will be to establish a more streamlined system of Government, which encourages more effective communication between Government Departments, a more comprehensive approach to development and co-ordination of policy, improved decision-making and scrutiny processes within Government and improved delivery of user led services.

Expressions of interest are sought from individuals who have any or all of the following skills and experience and wish to be considered for appointment:

    • Extensive Public Service and/or Private Sector Business Experience
    • Well developed knowledge of the constitutional relationship between the Isle of Man, UK and EU
    • Comprehensive understanding of the Island, its economy, politics and the machinery of Government
    • Experience of large scale structural and cultural change programmes

The review will commence in September 2005, and will complete and submit its report to the Council of Ministers, via the Steering Group, in October 2006.

It is anticipated that the time requirement will be approximately 5 days per month.

Further information can be obtained from Mr J. Callister, Director of Policy, Chief Secretary's Office, on 685200.

The closing date for expressions of interest is 26th August 2005 Chief Secretary

    8th August 2005
