Sea-Fisheries (Protection of Migratory Fish Species) Bye-laws 2005 23 November 2005

    Tynwald approved the above Bye-laws on Wednesday 16th November 2005, and they came into operation with immediate effect.

    The Bye-laws prohibit netting in a restricted zone consisting of the north west and north east coasts of the Island from the north end of Peel Bay round to the northern side of Ramsey Harbour.

    Netting is not permitted from the beach or out to 750 metres seawards from the high water mark.

    The Bye-laws provide for a fine of £5,000 on summary conviction, or for an unlimited fine on conviction on information, for anyone guilty of an offence under the Bye-laws.
