More Manx Myths - Book Signing Evening with Dennis Turner 8 December 2005

On Friday the 16th December the Heritage Shop at the Manx Museum will be combining its last Festive Late Night Shopping with a book signing by Dennis Turner who will be signing copies of his latest book, “More Manx Myths”.

Maureen Kennaugh, Retail Manager for Manx National Heritage, said:

“Dennis Turner’s latest book ‘More Manx Myths’ is a companion volume to “Manx Myths and More”, in which he has written about the myths and legends of the Isle of Man in modern, narrative rhyming verse and illustrated the book with his own sketches. The publication includes factual accounts, such as the history of the Albert Tower, and origins of the Brown Bobby, as well as fictional accounts of the Chasms dinner party and the Severed Head!”

Mulled wine and mince pies will be available throughout the evening and the book signing will take place at the Manx Museum Heritage Shop, which will be open until 7.30 p.m.

On the same evening and in the lecture theatre starting at 7.30 p.m. is Giense y Nollick – a Manx Christmas Celebration’. Tickets are available from the Manx Museum at £3.00 each and proceeds go to Age Concern.

This follows the successful Festive late night shopping evening at the Manx Museum the previous week which combined the book signing of Christiane Conway’s “Letters from the Isle of Man, The Bounty Correspondence of Nessy and Peter Heywood”.
