FSC Gains Investors in People Recognition 16 December 2005

    Investors in People

The Financial Supervision Commission has been recognised as an Investors in People (“IIP”). The Commission and its staff recently celebrated this with a presentation being made by the Minister for Trade & Industry, Mr Alex Downie MLC. Mr Downie acknowledged the “very positive work that took place within the Commission to encourage staff development and the successful delivery of the Commission’s business objectives” and congratulated the Commission and its staff in achieving the award.

The Commission formed an internal Task Force Team comprising of staff from each area of the organisation who worked with all staff to address improvement areas in order to successfully meet the IIP standard.

The Commission was the first organisation on the Island to be assessed under the new IIP standard which focuses on improving performance. The new standard provides a very effective business tool that stimulates and challenges organisations to make the best of their people and recognise their contribution.

Commenting on this achievement John Aspden, Chief Executive said “people are every organisation’s greatest asset, the Commission’s staff have all worked together on addressing areas where improvement was needed and the results have really strengthened our Team”.

The Commission employs 63 staff in a wide range of roles and provides a great environment to work within. It is keen to be an employer of choice and is always seeking ways in which it can improve delivery of its responsibilities. Its staff play a key role in this and learning and development linked to the business objectives is encouraged.
