The Isle of Man Police Consultative Forum 13 February 2006

The Isle of Man Police Consultative Forum which is a statutory body charged with improving communications between the Police and the general public, has arranged five public meetings to be held in Peel, Ramsey, Douglas, Port Erin and Onchan.

Public meetings of the Police Consultative Forum are to be held at 7.30pm on the following dates and venues:

    • Wednesday, 22nd February 2006 at Ramsey Town Hall, Ramsey
    • Thursday, 23rd February 2006 at Philip Christian Centre, Peel
    • Tuesday, 28 February 2006 at Onchan Church Hall, Onchan
    • Wednesday, 1 March 2006 at St Catherine’s Hall, Port Erin
    • Thursday, 2 March 2006, Methodist Church Hall, Willaston

At the meetings the Police will make short presentations about the challenges they face, focusing particularly on the issues raised at the last meeting in each area.

Following the presentation and discussion, opportunity will be given to raise any items of specific or general concern. The aim of the meeting is to create a constructive, positive dialogue to enable both sides to achieve better understanding and agree future action where appropriate.

Persons who represent particular interests within the local community have been invited to provide an input in order to obtain a balanced debate. The last series of meetings were well attended and the Forum is therefore confident that the meetings will be of interest and that by working together with the Police, the Police Consultative Forum will continue to be part of a process of building a safer and more secure community.

All members of the public are welcome to attend as it is important to gain as broad as possible a spectrum of views to ensure the interests of all members of the community are represented in the recommendations made by the Forum to the Police.

The Forum very much hopes that the meetings will continue to be well attended so that the Forum can continue to make informed recommendations to the police based on the public’s views and that the public will take this opportunity to have a voice into the way the Island is policed.
