MEA Receives Prestigeous 5 Star Health & Safety Award 20 March 2006

The Manx Electricity Authority has recently received the prestigious Five Star Safety Award from the British Safety Council following an intensive audit of its health and safety management system. The Internationally recognised audit process is designed to help organisations reduce accidents and improve productivity by identifying strengths and weaknesses in health and safety management. The accreditation is based on one to five star rating where five is the maximum available. The MEA is the first organisation on the Isle of Man to receive this award. It was presented to Mr John Reid MEA Board Member with responsibility for Health & Safety who said, “He was proud of the team at MEA for achieving this success and delighted to be accepting it on their behalf”. David Ballard, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, who presented the award, said, “Good safety is good business, and today nobody can afford to do anything else. My congratulations to MEA for the improvements they have already made and for their obvious determination to do even better in the future”.
