Isle of Man Film Display at The Broadway Cinema 31 March 2006

To mark the tenth anniversary year of the Island’s film industry, DTI and DTL have mounted a gallery of black and white stills at The Broadway Cinema. Selected from the seventy seven productions co-funded and co-produced by Isle of Man Film to date, the black and white images show some of the world’s leading actors who have starred in Manx films, together with a variety of films that have particular significance to the Isle of Man, such as Waking Ned and The Libertine.

Chairman of Isle of Man Film, Leonard Singer said, “I am delighted to introduce this wonderful display to the public to mark this quite significant occasion. In its comparatively short ten year history, Isle of Man Film has been able to exploit the success of the film industry to garner worldwide exposure of the most positive nature for the Island. There were many cynics in the early days, but I think that even they will have to concede that 78 films, television drama and animation projects in ten years is not just a “flash in the pan”.

Chairman of DTL’s Leisure Division Eddie Lowey said, “I’m sure that the display at the Villa Marina’s Broadway Cinema will be a fascinating opportunity to reflect on the past 10 years of the Island’s film industry - I hope people will enjoy the display as they make their way into the cinema.”
