New Head teacher at Scoill Phurt le Moirrey 5 April 2006

Following the recent retirement of Head teacher Carol Best from Scoill Phurt le Moirrey the Department is pleased to announce that her successor has now been appointed with immediate effect.

Mr Geoff Moorcroft, originally from Liverpool has been teaching at Phurt le Moirrey since 1994, when he took up the role of Deputy Head teacher.Geoff Moorcroft

Geoff, aged 39, studied at the University of Keele and achieved a BA (Joint Honours) in English and American studies before taking his PGCE at the University of Manchester. In 1989 Geoff began teaching at Rushen Primary School and remained there until he moved to Scoill Phurt le Moirrey in 1994.

Geoff is married to Nicola, who also teaches at Rushen Primary School, and they have three children.

Off duty Geoff likes to spend time with his family, reading, listening to music, walking and dining out. Geoff also claims he likes going to the gym, or was that forgetting to go to the gym!

When asked about his future plans and aspirations for the school Geoff says " I hope to sustain the high expectations and good practice for which Scoill Phurt le Moirrey has become renowned, and to create a happy, people-centred school in which all are valued and encouraged to realise their potential. I hope we will be able to equip our pupils for life in an ever-changing world."
