‘This is the first time the Department of Tourism and Leisure has attended this particular exhibition, with local experts on diving, walking, mountain biking and sea kayaking, and the show attracted nearly 50,000 visitors over three days.’

Among those promoting the Island on the exhibition stand were John ‘Dog’ Callister covering walks and the walking festival, Gary Cooper promoting mountain biking, and diving covered by David Hargreaves from Mann Scuba and Matthew McSeveney, General Manager of Sleepwell Hotels, who gave details of special diving packages available. Kierron Tastinagh from Adventurous Experiences was also on hand to explain about all the exciting challenges his company has to offer ranging from sea kayaking to coasteering.

Matthew McSeveney commented:

‘Attendance by exhibitors from the Isle of Man at the Outdoor Show proved to be very worthwhile and considerable interest was shown in all activities on offer. We had good feedback and a number of bookings were made.’

Tourism and Leisure Minister Hon David Cretney MHK said:

‘In future my Department is concentrating on exhibitions of special interest and activities because this is the way ahead.
