Manx National Heritage Staff Get Gold For Customer Services 12 May 2006

Over 95% of MNH staff have now been awarded a Gold Award from the Manx Hospitality Forum, as part of the highly successful Manx Welcome initiative.

The Gold Award is presented to any individual who has attended at least 3 of the 4 elements in the Manx Welcome training programme, which includes customer care, communications, health and safety and food hygiene. With over 75 members of MNH staff currently providing their services to the public, this is a very positive benefit to the standards of customer care for Manx National Heritage.

Plaques to mark Manx National Heritage’s achievement of the Gold Award will be displayed on the Story of Mann sites throughout the Island.

Michael Sproule, Head of Public Services for Manx National Heritage, was delighted to accept the plaques from the Chairman of the Hospitality Forum, Stuart Garrett of the IOM Steam Packet Company.

Michael Sproule said:

“It is a very important part of our training programme to ensure that all of our staff have a common and consistent approach to the subject of customer care, and we are particularly pleased that so many of our staff have been awarded the Gold award which shows a commitment to excellence by all of our staff on all of our sites”.

The Manx Welcome initiative, recognised as an example of excellence, has been running for over 12 months and has the aim of offering a consistent approach to customer service to all organisations throughout the Island. So far there over 600 people have attended one or more course modules and over 200 have achieved the Gold standard.

This initiative has been the subject of numerous enquiries from off Island to see if it can be used as a similar initiative in other resorts and organisations.
