Isle of Man Steam Packet supports Manx Welcome 16 June 2006

Hamish Ross (l), Hon David Cretney MHK(c), Stuart Garrett(r)Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK recently presented Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Managing Director Hamish Ross, and Human Resources Director Stuart Garrett, with a ‘Manx Welcome – Failt Mannanagh’ plaque to mark their on-going support to the Manx Welcome programme.

During 2006 alone some 65 Steam Packet personnel from on-board the vessels and Douglas and Liverpool terminals have completed the programme. Stuart Garrett is also Chairman of the Hospitality Forum, a partnership between government and industry which introduced the Manx Welcome courses to improve customer care, communication, food hygiene and health and safety modules in 2005.

Mr Cretney said:

‘I would like to thank the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for their valuable support in the Manx Welcome scheme, which has already proved the importance of the need to constantly improve the quality of customer care for our visitors. This is vital in ensuring high standards are maintained and improving levels of service within the industry.’
