Further Changes to Financial Sanctions - Al-qaida and the Taliban 4 August 2006

The United Nations Sanctions Committee has added a further four individuals to those subject to sanctions under Security Council Resolution 1390 (2002). These individuals are therefore now subject to financial sanctions in the Isle of Man under the Al-Qa'ida and Taliban (United Nations Measures) (Isle of Man) Order 2002 ("the 2002 Order").

The Sanctions Committee has also made one amendment to an existing entry in the Consolidated List of persons and entities subject to sanctions.

Financial institutions and other persons should check if they maintain accounts or otherwise hold any funds, financial assets, economic benefits or economic resources for any of the persons or entities named on the Consolidated List. If any are found these should be frozen and the details reported to the Sanctions Officer.

The details of the new entries on the Consolidated List and the amendment may be found in the document attached at the bottom of this news release.

The revised list of persons and entities subject to sanctions under the 2002 Order may be found at

Further information may be obtained from the Sanctions Officer.
